What Youth class should I sign my child up for?

We offer many dance styles and levels. You should pick a style

that your child is interested in. If they have never danced before,

we recommend they begin with a ballet class, as this is the foundation

of all other dance techniques. Some of our early childhood classes

are defined by age levels, which will help you decide.

You may purchase a single class pass so your child can

try a class to see if they enjoy it.

Can my child try a single class?

Yes!  Bring them in to try a single class to see if that style and level

will be the best class for them to take.  Single classes are $16.

near the train station, and north of the studio on Chicago Ave.

There is two hour meter parking located all around the block of the school.

How long will my child be in a dance level?

Typically, students will spend 2 to 3 years dancing at one level.  The technique of dance is very specific and takes years to develop properly.  Of course, rate of improvement will increase with the amount of classes taken weekly. Placement in classes is guided by our teachers.

Is there a Teen/Adult dress code?

Wear comfortable dance clothing and appropriate dance shoes for the style of class you are taking.  The teacher needs to see the range of movement in your body.  For this reason, form-fitting clothes are recommended such as a leotard or form fitting t-shirt, and leggings, jazz pants, or tights.  Long hair should be worn secured away from the face.  Please do not wear jewelry.

What age people attend the Teen/Adult classes?

Students age 13 and up attend teen/adult classes.

We have a wide variety of age groups in our classes.

Can I rent studio space?

Studio Space is available for rental to professional organizations only.

How long are classes?

Classes range from half hour, hour, to hour and a half classes.

Note the class length when you are selecting a class.

How much is tuition?

Tuition varies, call us at 847.866.9442

Do you have a family discount?

No.

What if I want to switch to another class?

Occasionally students need to change to a different class style at the beginning of the semester. Teen/Adult students may switch classes at any time. Youth division students are encouraged to remain in a class throughout a semester.

Are there any level requirements?

Yes. Levels are designed to help students gage which class they should take. A students first class is a placement class. The teacher will evaluate your level and give you their class recommendations.

Basic – no previous training

I – some prior training

II – 3-5 years of prior training

III – minimum of 5 years of prior training

IV – advanced level

V – professional level

What are my payment options?

Giordano Dance School accepts cash, checks, Visa or Mastercard.

Payment in full is due at registration.

Does my child have to participate in the end of the year show?

Participation in the Youth Division Showcase is not required but highly encouraged.

Youth classes will begin working on their dance piece in the Spring Semester. Your child would still learn the choreography for the dance with the class.

Why can’t I watch my child’s dance classes?

Dance students focus level is much higher when they are working in a

closed class environment. Learning a dance technique requires a great

deal of effort, and concentration. Our teachers prefer to work this way,

and we see stronger results from our students if they can learn without distractions.

Can I register after the semester has begun?

Yes.  We will arrange make up classes so you may catch up on material you missed.

What does ‘open classes’ mean?

Our teen/adult classes are open and ongoing. Students may try or

join a class at any time. Our teen/adult teachers work with this by

not using the same choreography or dance combinations concurrently.

You will not be walking into the same combination other students

learned last week. It is recommended that you take the same technique

week after week, but our open classes are designed to fit into your

busy schedule. Most teen/adult students enjoy using our class cards

for a more flexible, varied dance schedule.
